I have published couple of blog posts recently to help you installing latest and greatest version of Sitecore – 9.2. Latest as of writing this post of course 🙂

This post will help you with orientation in what and in which order to install.

1. Solr

Before installing Sitecore 9.2, you need to have Solr 7.5 installed on your machine. Just follow my post and you will find there PowerShell script to do it for you without manual interventions in just couple of seconds.

2. Installing Sitecore 9.2

With Sitecore 9.2, you have now 2 options to install it on your local dev machine:

  1. Using Sitecore Install Assistant (SIA) – New installation option coming with Sitecore 9.2. It is GUI that helps you through wizard set couple of values like Solr URL, port, SQL Server connection values and then install Sitecore. This is more suitable for non-technical users. Follow my blog post to do it this way or just take a look how it looks like -> Installing Sitecore 9.2 using new Sitecore Install Assistant (SIA)
  2. Using Sitecore Installation Framework (SIF) which is used to install Sitecore since version 9. Follow my blog post to do it this way -> Sitecore 9.2 Initial Release Installation Guide for Development Machine

If you want to set installation directory and not to use default one with the second option, follow great blog post by Viet Hoang -> https://buoctrenmay.com/2019/07/23/sitecore-xp-9-2-initial-release-playing-around-with-custom-install-directory/

3. Installing SXA 1.9

Those who also want to install SXA on top of Sitecore (hopefully most of you :-), follow my last blog post in these series -> Sitecore SXA 1.9 Installation Guide for Development Machine

Conclusion

My first impression after installing and running of Sitecore 9.2 are great. First load seems the fastest out of all Sitecore 9 versions so far. Also the responsiveness of Sitecore interface was improved significantly. Let’s spend some time playing with and discovering this new version and it’s features. You can expect some upcoming posts with my impressions!

Rock and roll!
